Hundreds of thousands of employees (public sector workers in particular) were encouraged to take out Free-Standing Additional Voluntary Contribution (FSAVC) pension plans throughout the 1990s to increase their retirement income. Due to the poor investment performance and high charges, those people sold them may only receive a fraction of the pension they could have built up had they been advised to top-up their work-based pension scheme instead.
Losses are usually substantial and compensation for being mis-sold an FSAVC plan can run into tens of thousands of pounds. Recent payouts include £84,922.93; £67,843.69 and £60,430.64 (click for evidence).
Proving that mis-selling took place involves analysing the sale to identify breaches of the regulatory selling rules, plus successfully arguing you were more suited to another method of funding your retirement.
This is not straightforward but I have 14 years experience in this area. If you were advised to take out an FSAVC pension plan, please do get in touch for further information. I am a fully qualified financial consultant and pensions specialist and will recover your losses if you have been the victim of mis-selling. (I should just stress to teachers that if you have the “Teachers AVC” from Prudential then you do not have a problem. This product has the approval of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.)
I work only on a “no win, no fee” basis so there will be absolutely no charge if you do not have a viable and successful case. I have helped many, many happy clients recover their losses, winning compensation payments up to £90,000.
Please contact me for a review or click the link above to take the 60 second mis-selling test or here for more information about FSAVCs
